Setting the Alliance for Spiritual Ecology Into Motion

Two days after the Spring Equinox in 2006, during the ‘time of the West’ at 4:28 p.m., my partner, Astrid, and I performed a brief ceremony by the river at Tremont, TN to give birth to an “Alliance for Spiritual Ecology.” In creating this alliance, we set our intention to both speak and act for those who have no voice or vote and yet have given us so much nurturing, nourishment, beauty, and happiness - our sisters and brothers of the animal and plant kingdoms; those magnificent elemental spirits of the Earth, Air, Fire, and Water; the mountain spirits; the powers of the great canyons and desert places; and the sacred sites of Earth.

In this ceremony, we stated our intention to teach and employ a powerfully effective technology that includes direct intervention on an etheric or quantum level in the relentless assault on our environment by the forces of greed, exploitation, and ignorance. Those of you who have read my book Soul on Fire, will recognize that this is the technology I describe in a number of stories – technology which proved effective beyond my wildest dreams for three decades.

To set this in motion, we are creating a section on the science of spiritual ecology here on petercalhoun.com. The science of spiritual ecology involves the healing and protection of our beloved Earth through consciousness and focused intent. The active expression of this is through what I’m calling, radical environmental intervention. It is, in practice, the intervention on behalf of environmentally threatened areas that takes place on the etheric level through sacred ceremonies. It has been our experience that the outcome of physical events can be powerfully influenced in this way. This is based on a little-known natural law that each plane is controlled by the one above it.

In a number of stories in Soul on Fire, I describe how simple ceremonies by a single person, or only a few people, were able to accomplish the seemingly impossible, triumphing against overwhelming odds where activism, organized protests, and public education had failed.

Can you imagine what large gatherings of us or a number of small groups could achieve with a carefully synchronized and concerted effort?

The purpose of this Alliance is, first, to create a local, regional, and ultimately national and world-wide group of people dedicated to protect both the sacred sites of Earth and environmentally sensitive areas that are threatened by such things as invasive development, oil and gas exploration, strip mining, clear cutting, or the selling off of public lands.

The Alliance is also being established for healing:
1. Areas that have been abused and brought into unbalance; and
2. Areas stricken by drought and excessive rainfall, perhaps even blight or infestation.

We will use the spiritual technology described in the story ‘Spiritual Intervention,’ which is published in my recent book, Soul on Fire. We will also be updateing this page to provide downloadable copies of my Spiritual Intervention chapter and the appendices in Soul on Fire: (a) Principles for Conducting Sacred Ceremonies To Heal and Protect Our Earth and (b) Steps for Conducting a Sacred Ceremony For Our Earth.

The sacred ceremonies can include the elements of drumming, toning, chanting, sacred songs and dances, prayer, affirmations, and visualizations. They should also include offerings made to our friends and allies of the invisible world. (As those of you who have read Soul on Fire know, an alliance between the human and elemental world is unbeatable). In fact, there is no way we can succeed in this endeavor without the complete support of the elemental world. It is important, therefore, to know what they require of us. Ignorance of this is the primary reason that many well-intentioned ceremonies for healing the earth have brought only modest results.

In spite of the obvious dedication of so many participants in the environmental movement and the successes and advances that have been made, for decades the movement has been hamstrung by different groups competing for prioritization and (increasingly limited) funding of their particular project. This competitive tendency and inability to perceive value in what others are doing has greatly weakened and divided the environmental movement. Here is also too much of the polarizing elements of fear and anger among those who would protect our environment. These are not the vibrations that can heal and bring opposing camps together. Compassion, understanding, and forgiveness are needed.

It will be important to remember that we are not doing ceremonies to stop the exploiters. It is not about win or lose and good versus bad. We are not at war. Our ceremonies will focus on sending healing, light, and protection where it is needed and then trust in the power of what we’re doing to serve the Greater Whole. I have no doubt that our Earth Mother loves those who are raping her as much as she loves her protectors for the above it the way of the Divine Feminine. The Goddess of our World does not judge or punish. She ‘allows’.

Environmental disaster and natural cataclysms, should they come, would not be punishment but consequence of our disregard of natural law. The existing environmental movement in America is in crises as almost every environmental legislation passed in the last three decades is being overturned, bypassed, or simply ignored.

It is our belief that the spiritual ecology and intervention described above will help bring groups together through common cause and by literally taking it to a higher level. We are certain this approach can heal the environmental movement and turn the tide against the prolific misuse and widespread abuse of our national resources.

It is our intention to create a worldwide network of volunteers that can coordinate efforts to address major concerns such as the Artic National Wildlife Refuge currently threatened by powerful forces desirous of using it for oil and gas extraction, and at the same time, offer guidance to local groups attempting to address environmental issues in their own neighborhoods.

We will need volunteers of people committed to performing these sacred ceremonies. There is a need for people with leadership and organizational abilities, computer and communication skills as well as those with special sensitivities to the earth such as intuitives, shaman, environmentalists, and those of you who simply have a passionate love for our earth and the nature kingdom. We would need a core group of people who would be available to actually gather to perform ceremonies at the targeted area that is under siege. We need people who could gather at a sacred site or one of the major vortices of our continent. We also need many individuals and local groups who can be available for ‘remote’ healing or protection of a designated area. We would time these ceremonies as: 1) The need arises in a specific area; and 2) During full moons, solstices, equinoxes, and other energetically auspicious times when our ceremonies have the greatest chance of reaching their objectives.

We will be getting word of this alliance out beyond our local community in two ways. First, through the lecture tours, book signings, radio and TV interviews that I’ll be doing as the year progresses. The second will be through the network of people connected with the sound chamber at the Center for Peace in Seymour, Tennessee, and a number of other places in this country, South America, Australia, Scotland, Israel, and South Africa. Astrid, Perry Robinson (of the Center for Peace), and I are currently working in the planning stages and information about the alliance will be on www.petercalhoun.com and www.centerforpeace.us.

We feel most blessed for seldom has an idea been conceived that could have immediate access to an international network. Truly this is an idea whose time has come.

It is a powerful experience to do sacred ceremony, drumming, music and toning in these sound chambers which are the inspiration of Pueblo Shaman, visionary, and elder, Joseph Rauel (Beautiful Painted Arrow). The incredible resonances experienced in the chamber during ceremonies and at sacred dances have a powerful balancing and healing effect, not only on people but on the magnetic fields of the Earth. These resonances will enable us to seal our INTENT in an etheric gridwork that encompasses our planet, and virtually assure the fulfillment of that intent. There is a way to do this that has not been made known before. We will show you how.

Those of you who still feel you are without power will discover that you have access to power that is almost unimaginable and can effectively bring about change for the good in our world. Although the sound chambers were originally built to promote world peace, we all know that there can be no real and lasting peace among humans until we have made peace with the Earth (for many in our world are presently at war with the Earth).

The guardians and elemental spirits of the Earth have become distrustful and fearful of humans because of our apparent disregard for the laws of nature. Some of them, like the indigenous people of our land, feel betrayed. We need to earn their trust, to know what they require of us, and to show our respect. We will have to learn to listen to their subtle voices which are the consciousness of Gaia, our Mother Earth.

If we don’t – if we just rush in and try to fix the environment on our own terms, then we are behaving much like a wealthy western nation that arrogantly rushes in to solve a problem in an African or South American republic without consulting and soliciting the aide and advice of the local people. The energetic world which is the home of these wonderful earth spirits is the primary reality of all beings, including us. This world is more ancient, vast, and complex than the physical world in which we dwell, which is an emanation of it.

This Alliance is not just an alliance among humans. It is an Alliance between the human and elemental kingdoms. I have already explained why this cooperation is essential.

The fire spirits will assist in burning through the negative aura of fear, anger, dissention, and division. The power of air will bring in the new consciousness about our Earth Mother. The water elementals will soften and open peoples’ hearts, bring adaptability and receptivity. The earth will provide the grounding structure and foundation necessary for the success of this project. With each ceremony we will target specific areas. For example, the Earth Ceremony might be for the protection of the Artic National Wildlife Refuge. This is a way for you to experience first hand the power of ceremonies. There is nothing like a few successes to inspire and give confidence.

A single feather can tip perfectly balanced scales. An idea whose time has come is more powerful than a great army. One person speaking her truth with compassion and without judgment can transform the world.

Our beautiful Earth is a mother in labor who is about to give birth. Her unborn child is a new humanity cleansed of its former negativity and separatist way of being. But, she is presently having a most difficulty labor. Without enough midwives and caregivers to assist her, she could abort.

I know that most of you who read this are among the many millions of people that volunteered for this assignment before you came here. Were it not so, you would not be reading this. You will understand that our Earth needs protection as much as any mother whose hour has come. We hope many of you will respond to this summons and see this as a way you can make a difference.

In Soul on Fire I wrote: "We as a species, in setting ourselves up above the Laws of Creation, and acting as if we are a law unto ourselves, have taken a wrong turn on our evolutionary path. We’ve been poor caregivers in the Garden of Nature, and based on future scenarios I’ve seen in my visions, we are about to reap a bitter harvest."

I have been shown that physical methods (environmental protection) alone will no longer work. A spiritual technology must be developed and employed to avert disaster.

I think it is an old Chinese proverb that says, “We need to be careful, lest we arrive at the place toward which we’re heading.” Such a fate can be avoided through the transformative power of consciousness, focused intent, and selfless service.

Shakespeare wrote about “a tide in the affairs of men which taken at its crest, leads on to fame and fortune.” As many of you have begun to realize, there is such a ‘tidal force of consciousness’ streaming into our world at this time. If we have the courage to seize the opportunity to ride its crest then there is no way we can fail.
